Catching Fire REVIEW *WARNING SPOILERS*

(not my photos!)
Back in 8th grade I read the series. Fell in LOVE with the series. I saw the Hunger Games movie right when it came out and was slightly disappointed (the book is SO much better). Naturally when Catching Fire was about to come out, I reread C.F again. It is my least favorite book of the series (for what ever reason the middle book/movie is always my least favorite) Side note: Mockingjay is my favorite.

Thursday I went to an 8 o'clock showing of C.F. I LOVED THE MOVIE! I thought it stuck closer to the book than Hunger Games did. I also enjoyed the movie itself better than H.G. C.F was quicker paced and spent more time in the arena (which is where all the action is). I thought the casting was amazing! The cast chemistry (on and off screen) was perfect. Seriously just Youtube the interviews they WILL make you at least smile!

The movie is 2 hours and 26 minutes and I enjoyed every second. Of course there were slight differences between the book and movie. I will now tell you some of the ones I noticed and why I did/didn't like them. They aren't in any order just what floated into my head.

{SPOILERS}

Mags death was quicker- This was done to obviously to save time and it isn't necessarily a BIG deal but I like Mags and it would of been nice to see her the extra minutes (:

No mention of Haymitch's games or Maysilee Donner- Neither movie has had character background which I want! To save time again they just move from reaping to arena. I WOULD have liked to have seen Haymitch in the games and them watching the tapes just for the reason I think it affects the relationship and shows Haymitch as more than just a drunk mentor. Him becoming a victor would add more dimension to his character I think.

Beach scene- They didn't leave this scene out. I was just disappointed in the way they handled it. I was expecting more and more time spent on it. Again I'm sure it was for time reason. I KNOW they can't put everything in the movies but in the book its such a big scene and beautiful I think they could have handled it a little better.

Johanna Mason quote- In the book my FAVORITE quote by her is "I don't care if you're knocked up or not I'll still rip your throat out." I would of liked to see that in the movie just to show how Katniss and her don't get along. Plus I just like the quote in general. I DO like how Johanna was portrayed in the movie. Just a little thing I would of liked to see.

Mentioning the "baby"- In the movie they only mention the baby like once. Finnick is suppose to mention it as well as Peeta. I feel like after the initial news broke they never really brought it up again (hence the reason above). Again this isn't a big deal it just made it an easily forgettable detail.

Clues about a secret plan- In the book Plutarch Heavensbee shows Katniss a mockingjay watch and discreetly tells her clues about the arena and shows her that he is on her side (even though she doesn't know it at the time). I really wanted this part to be in the movie. Also is would helped people who haven't read the book a suspicious feeling. They also didn't use the bread signals that indicated how much time was left in the arena. I'm OK with them not including that but I still would of liked to see it just for showing how elaborate and planned this escape was.

Again Peeta's leg- It makes me SOOO angry they didn't have Peeta's leg injury in the H.G. Which also means it couldn't of been in this movie. Personally I think its a big detail that can explain a lot of why Peeta isn't very coordinated and why Katniss sees him as "injured".

Katniss sees what Peeta does during evalution- Katniss isn't suppose to see what Peeta does before she "hangs" Seneca Crane. I think it shows how alike Katniss and Peeta think and I would of liked it more if they had stuck to the book. Its not a huge deal once again just something I noticed and missed.

So that is all the things I saw/remembered. I'm sure there are more (feel free to leave them below). My favorite things were of course Peeta (he is perfect),
 really all the characters were amazing. The ending was GREAT. I AM NOT ready for "hijacked" Peeta! I liked the way they handled the President Snow at Katniss's house scene. The costumes were GREAT. I realllly loved all the scenes Johanna was in. She just brings hilarious things to the scenes.

Overall you NEEEEED to go see the movie! It is so good even if you haven't read the books. If you haven't read the books you need to stop living under a rock and DO IT! Thanks for reading this I know it was long!
